BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is an approach to reversing the affects of facial wrinkles including crow’s feet, worry lines and laugh lines.
What to expect?
Cosmetic denervation is the process of injecting BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin) into the tiny facial muscles that create the wrinkles – effectively causing temporary paralysis of those particular muscles. BOTOX Cosmetic injections are performed without anesthesia because they use tiny micro needles that are virtually painless except for small stings. The procedure only takes minutes and patients are ready to leave the office soon after and drive themselves home.
After the procedure, patients may experience slight bruising around the area that will quickly fade. Normal activities can be performed immediately. Possible side effects are temporary weakness of nearby muscles or in rare cases an eyelid may droop. BOTOX Cosmetic is completely reversible so any side effect is only a temporary condition. Dr. Hagan will explain all associated risks at the time of your consultation.
The effects of BOTOX become visible within several days and its full effect is evident at seven days. Another session of BOTOX may be necessary in order to achieve the desired result. The effects are not permanent and may need to be repeated two to three times per year to retain the effects. Research has suggested, however, that long-term use of the injections may lead to a longer duration of each treatment’s effect.
Patients over the age of 65 may not experience such dramatic results. BOTOX Cosmetic is only useful in treating expression lines and cannot be used to repair sagging skin caused by aging.
Facial Fillers
Juvéderm™ dermal filler is an FDA-approved product used for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines that extend from your nose to the corners of your mouth. It is a hyaluronic acid-based injectable gel that supplements the body’s natural hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar, which age has depleted. Juvéderm is made with an advanced manufacturing process that creates a smooth consistency gel that flows consistently and easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel.
Results are immediate with minimal downtime. Juvéderm maintains the improved appearance for six to nine months. The benefits may last even longer if you have a follow-up treatment a few weeks after the first treatment.
What to expect?
The transparent Juvéderm gel is injected with a syringe into the mid- to deep dermis of your face. The procedure is virtually painless except for the pin prick of the injections. Side effects are rare, but may include redness, tenderness, or pain at the injection site that usually subsides within about three days.
